‘Congratulations’
I wrote this song many, many years ago. It is simply about the way I felt about businessmen – especially those in the music industry. I played it in a few bands I have been in, Bigger Than Jesus did a recorded version of it. It was a good one but still not how I really heard it. I pulled this out in the studio over in Brunswick because it was so simple. Two chords, no chorus or bridges. I figured easy.
We did a take or two and then Bruce came up with this feel, and that changed the whole dynamic. That got Pete to percolating on the double bass and then Robbo really let the funk in. This song was made for horns and when we recorded them at my place it was such an arrival! Overall it was the same formula. Keep the original rhythm section and piano and overdub guitars and vocals.
Almost too easy.

X's bloodied history has been well known so we'll skip that here.
Steve also fronted Bigger Than Jesus, Double Cross and The Groody Frenzy. All very successful in their own right.
